QUESTION

Has anyone ever used, heard of, tried, or had any experience with the medication Lamictal for treatment in aggression in autism?
My son was prescribed this today and I'm researching information about this medication.

Thank you.

I have to confess to not knowing Lamictal in it's use with autism. I am quite familiar with it in it's use for epilepsy, however. If you are looking for advice on autism, I am worthless to you. However, I can help with any side effects on the Lamictal. Also, the 'epileptics' boards is full of individuals who would be able to offer their experiences with Lamictal, also. After all, people may have the same diagnosis and yet have very different reactions to drugs because we are all very individual in our body chemistry. :-)
Good luck and let me know how it goes. Don't worry too much, if possible. Of all the drugs out there, Lamictal is one of the nicer ones, all things considered.

so other than the possibility of an allergic skin rash that we'll have to watch for, are there any side effects that I should watch for with him. He's 8, and because he's autistic doesn't always explain things to me as well as I'd like in regards to how he feels and such. He's totally verbal, however has a hard time with expressing things at times.
